My first ID thread! Help with this bush?

Hi- friend is trying to clear a flower bed and cut down a large bush but says the roots are really extensive and the bush keeps regenerating. Can you help me tell her what it is and how to get rid of it?

Does it have small white smelly flowers? Could be privet.

Yes - Lonicera. It can make a nice little hedge, as cuttings root very easily. Could make a nice decorative 'parterre'.
