We have just moved to a new house and at the bottom of my garden there is a concrete area that looks unsightly. What can I do with it on a budget? Thought about pea gravel but had that at our old house and got sick of it being trapsed around the house.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Cover it with pots - not tiny little ones, which look like a mess (I'm looking at you, Monty Don, with your mound garden), but big ones with larger shrubs interspersed with smaller things (repeated evergreens, e.g. box balls, can look very soothing)! I'd also plant flowering shrubs around the edges if there is space to create a sense of enclosure and privacy.

You'll be surprised how quickly the concrete vanishes when there's something else to look at. If there are walls/fences nearby, get some wires on these and train some climbers up. If you can set in a couple of posts, or train some wire horizontally across and get climbers across it, this will look lovely too.

How about slate shingles rather than pea gravel and then th big pots etc. on top.
