What am I doing wrong with my wisteria?

I've had it for 3 years and this time every year it wilts and the leaves drop off. I've tried fertiliser, watering regularly and spraying it with bug stuff but it's still not playing ball.

Any suggestions? I've always wanted one but I'm getting close to taking it out and putting something else there!!

Thank you x

Where is it planted? If it's too close to a house wall (in the `rain shadow') it's probably too dry which would explain the wilting.

When you water it, give a good 10 or 15 mins of water on the roots every evening. Just a bit with a watering can isn't enough

But I'd say take it out. Wisteria is a brute of a plant once it gets going, and unless you own a castle or similar, it will get too big. Plant a type III clematis instead - they are much better climbers.

Thanks both, it's in a westerly position right against the house! Blimey that could explain why the poor thing! I though I was giving it enough
