Anyone know what this is?

Anyone know what this plant is?

I have a large one in front of my house and it seems to grow quite enthusiastically so thought I might put it all down the side of the house.

I'm not much of a gardener. How would I take cuttings from it and plant it somewhere else? I'm told I have 'terrible soil'.

Idiots guide please.

Definitely Mallow/Lavatera (I think they're the same thing!)
