Black Spot - Is it too late?

Through a combination of circumstances, I have only just woken up to the fact that many of my roses have lost nearly all their leaves. The remaining leaves are covered in black spots and are yellowing.

They are now drenched in the fungicide sold by B and Q.

Anything else I can do? Is it too late?

Pick any dead leaves up of the soil otherwise the fungi will be back next year as it can live in the soil.

Thanks. Would it be a good idea to prune them back now? Quite a bit of the stems are black...

If anyone is reading, please could you tell me if these roses are going to return next year?

Yes they will be back I'm battling blackspot on some very old roses in my new to me garden. Year two and its markedly less than last year and I didn't even start last year til mine were at same stage as yours novice gardener

novice here too - I suddenly realized one rose had blackspot.

I cut it right back to about 8" from the ground (on Mum's suggestion) and it's re-sprouting all over the shop.

We have very, very harsh winters where I live so figured it might have more chance than if I left it all spindly and bald

I've had a lovely white 'Iceberg' floribunda rose for years and years, it has always been as healthy as can be and has never had blackspot - until this year.

Must be a bad year for it.

I'll try pruning them all back to about eight inches and collecting all the debris. Will be on this like a hawk next year :)

The mildew etc. has also been bad - too much rain perhaps.

I think you spray the ground as well as plant and removing infected leaves from ground first.

Pruning now will not any harm especially if they are new roses they will actually start to sprout new growth almost immediatly but you will not get any flowers this year.

Yes it's a bad year for it, all this damp weather. I have black spot on some climbing roses that have been clear since I bought them .

I confess to having sprayed

I have a lovely rose only in it's second year that has it :( I'm trying to remove all the infected leaves as they appear but want to resist spraying if I can. Also some of my snapdragons have rust, it's not going well...

plipplops I have rust, mildew and a sort of beige coloured freckled thing over the sweetpea...it's not going to plan here either.

I've sprayed this year and chopped and burned and I am winning but it's a daily effort what with that and the dawn slug patrol it's war out there this year.

I sprayed and got a dressing down from a passing gardener. Apparently there are Reasons why you shouldn't do it...

I didn't spray last year and despite constant picking and pruning my roses were riddled and my new roses caught it to. I am just going to don a disguise and spray at night 😁
