Preferably cheap and relatively easy as it's a rental most likely for 12-18months while we save for a deposit but I would like it to look a bit nicer so we can have BBQs without being embarrassed. The clothes hanger is gone and has a small patio type area with the same blocks the path is made from next to the house that you cant see in this picture.

I was thinking kill the whole lawn first and start again with the grass, having either the strip down the side of the path or maybe just the end near the trees as flowers.

Also what do people do about lawnmowers when they have no shed!

If you're only there for such short time, don't kill off the lawn but put down weed and feed and keep it mown.

For rest, invest in larger plants in pots that you can place where you like and take with you.

If no shed, you could get a large outdoor plastic storage box, and again, you could take it with you when you go. TBH with a lawn that size, and no long term plan to stay, I think I would just use a strimmer. It doesn't leave it very even, but does that matter?

Maybe a few hanging baskets along the fence sides, or some bigger troughs that you can put climbing plants in?

strim it all, rake and sow grass seed, and water it regularly. Move the dryer if you can as it's sat right in the middle. Agree with others about pots, and buy a cheap set of patio chairs and a BBQ.
