We took over an allotment a few months ago and worked so hard to clear it. We planted a few seeds to see how fertile the soil was and then, unfortunately, went away on holiday for 3 weeks.

I've just been up to check on it for the first time since before the holiday and it is completely overgrown.
I mean 4-5' tall plants/weeds/nettles. The plot next to ours was let at the same time and hers is exactly the same.

There are lots of these plants with little white flowers in the area where we had planted seeds. What do they look like?

I think we're going to have to just cut it all down and cover it for this year to kill off all the weeds and nettles then make a fresh start next year.

I think it is field pennycress - Thlaspi arvense, an annual of arable land roadsides and waste areas.
