Rhubarb question

Hello all, this is my first year growing fruit/veg and I'm loving it. I have 5 decent sized raised beds in the garden and am growing peas, beans, radish, carrots, shallots, chard, lettuce, beetroot, potatoes, strawberries and herbs.
I have rhubarb growing in a large (50L) tub, and it seems to be doing well. I'm sure I have read that it shouldn't be harvested in the first year, is this right? If so, do I just let it die back in the Autumn? I bought the plant from a garden centre so am assuming this is it's 1st year. It seems a bit wasteful not to eat it!

I would leave it this year tbh - it will do better in the following years then. Give the crown a good covering of mulch after the leaves have gone, and enjoy next year :)

I'd not be able to resist a few stalks, but I wouldn't over do it.
