bloody pots!

So I've decided to put a single variety of a showy plants in my smaller pots - any thoughts? No orange flowers though

why are you swearing at your poor pots?

what does showy mean? I thought perhaps dahlias. I'm new to this so not sure!

I'm trying crocosmia this summer. Bright red.

I think this can look stunning or boring, depending on the plant you're using and the location! It's quite a normal way of showing off standards or auriculas. Entire pots full of nothing but lobelia might be a bit zzzz though!

What is the effect that you want exactly?

A single variety of something that blooms all summer is good eg Geum. It also knits the garden together as you can put for example 3 pots together in different locations.

A single variety of short flowering seasons though will soon be over and if there is nothing else in there then you will have to either have empty pots or replant.

Oops got distracted by the weekend gardening and now Chelsea!!!

By showy I meant big, blousey and colourful eg cosmos etc, but I always feel over whelmed by my pots as I just can't see to get the combinations right - and they are such hard work as they need a lot of watering hence the swearing at them... That said I love you can put a bit of ooph in your garden by instant colour so get drawn in each year.

I saw some lovely yellow crocosimia at my fabby local nursery but wasn't sure whether to pop them a pot.. Thx!
