Cherry tomatoes from seed - too late?

I am a Novice gardener (not being bashful). I have an idea that I want to grow cherry tomatoes. Is it too late to start them from seed? Should I just buy plug plants instead? Thanks.

Plug plants would be a safer bet now

Thanks Turb, I'll have a look for some tomorrow.

I agree that plug plants are your best bet now, especially if you're growing outdoors and not in a greenhouse. Good idea to do cherry tomatoes if you're growing outside as I find these ripen more easily than big ones.

As far as variety goes, you'll probably find lots of "gardener's delight' ones on offer and these actually are really good - good flavour and easy to grow. If you see any more unusual varieties, I'd snap up any 'sun gold' if you see them - these are yellow and really delicious. Plus the seed is expensive so the plants are a comparatively good deal.
