Can you help me identify this shrub?

We've moved into a new house recently and inherited this. No idea what it is but it's very 'woody' and untidy with long spiny branches and lots of dead wood at the bottom (which I have just cut out). It has been trained against the fence at some point but now very overgrown. Do you know what it is - and is it worth keeping?! Thanks in advance...

Looks like Jasmine to me - if so, definitely a keeper!

Thank you - I hope you're right!

By "spiny" do you mean it has thorns?

Thecazelets · 02/05/2016 19:54

No, more sort of bendy, hard and smooth!
