Improving my lawn

More a weed patch at the moment, full of dandelions, moss, thistles and cress type stuff.

What can I do at this time of year? Weed and feed? Then seed?

I just use a cheap box of own-brand lawn weed and seed (sainsbury's in this case). For really bad patches, I dig it out, remove the weeds and re-seed. It can look a bit odd for a while as the newly seeded areas stand out, but after a while it all seems to merge into one. That said, it won't win any Best Lawn prices, certainly don't bother trying to get stripes or anything else like that!

Oh thanks! That might be an idea to cut out any bad patches...

I think you might need to dig out the thistles and dandelions with an old bread knife and attack the others with feed and weed. The moss needs raked out later .

I hate looking after the grass ( lawn is too posh a word for what I have ) . It's a thankless task . Waste of space IMHO
