What size garden do I need?

We are househunting and I'm a bit confused about gardens. I'd like enough space for children to play, a summerhouse or similar and a veg patch and cutting garden. What would be the minimum size or other features you'd be looking for? I have seen a lovely house but the garden is about 60 foot and you wouldn't be able to 'hide' a veg patch in it. We have seen gardens up to 200' in our budget.

You do not need to hide a veg patch. But if you like gardening, and want to spend alot of time in one, then go for one with a bigger garden.

This is the garden of the house we liked. I know we don't need to hide a veg patch but can't really see where we'd put it without spoiling the look of the garden!

You can smuggle the veg in the borders. Grow fruit trees. etc.

I can hang on to my allotment but my husband is not keen as it will be 15 mins drive away..and will be hard to get away without the kids.
