Always use crocus but they are £££ and have just come across parkers who seem much cheaper. Plants appear smaller when supplied but very much cheaper.

I've used them a couple of times for bulbs and been pretty unimpressed with the proportion that come up and flower. I think you do get what you pay for you some extent.

Oh dear. Crocus has 20% off till the end of today so debating whether to go with them or try someone else.

My whole back garden is filled with plants from there. All by mail order. Everything bar one shrub took beautifully.

I used Sarah Raven last year. I think she makes crocus seem quite reasonable! Maybe use her a couple of times then when you go back to crocus and get 20% off you might feel like you are getting a bargain?!
(Disclaimer: I haven't directly compared. I was sucked in by her lovely bunches of flowers and what have you. She might be cheaper than crocus, who knows.)

I am an avid user of parkers as is my family who garden on a huge scale. I have always found them reliable and quality has been good.

MyNightWithMaud · 20/09/2015 13:47

I have used Parkers a lot too. There have been occasional failures - such as some hardy geraniums, which I always regard as bombproof - but they have quickly provided refunds in response to an email to customer services.

Lots of these places offer a discount to readers of Gardeners' World magazine.

I don't buy anything but parkers wholesale mail order.

featherandblack · 20/09/2015 14:14

You do need to keep an eye on what's growing and what's not working though - I think they can be hit and miss but they do refund.

I usually use their wholesale catalogue/website - www.dutchbulbs.co.uk (share with a friend to make up a reasonable 'wholesale' size order).
The bulbs are excellent but the plants are very disappointing.

I buy from them every year - they are brilliant for bulbs, which come at a good size, as described. The wholesale website is super-cheap, but you do need to bulk order for that.

As aircooled says, I wouldn't buy plants from them, though. Just bulbs.
