Opinions on fake grass?

We are thinking of getting a fake lawn as the grass in our garden is so damaged. Our children play a lot in the garden - trampoline, table tennis, football and the grass has stopped growing under these. We are thinking that fake grass would be a good solution for a few years. The samples we have seen seem very realistic.

I would go for it. Its lovely to have a grassy area for children to play on. Less maintenance required too.

If it's not too massive an area then I would go for it too. Let the kids play all they want then, without bare earth. Personally, I would then surround the grass with shrubs, ones that slightly overhang the grass edges, to give a lush and verdant feel.
