Geranium cranesbill rozanne - help!

I could do with some advice.

I bought one of these a few weeks ago with a view to putting it in a small, new bed.

So it's been in its pot and I've been watering it. All good. But then I moved it out of the way and have forgotten to water it. It's all brown and withered with a slight smattering of green at the tips. I'm gutted.

I've watered it and put it in a shady place for now.

Will it recover do you think? I'm thinking that I need to cut it back to get rid of the withered bits but that means cutting it back almost to the soil.

Should I plant it in the bed first or cut it back when it is in its pot? Or should I just ditch it altogether?

Don't ditch it! It probably has some life left somewhere.
I would probably leave it in the pot for now because a move will be another shock to its system. Unless leaving it in the pot means you might forget it again.
I have had things come back from the dead in a worse state than that sounds to be!

Actually, how big is the pot? If it's quite little then maybe best to plant out or repot because it's harder to keep things reliably moist in a small pot.

It looks similar to a large blue one we have, but I don't know the name for ours. It is pretty tough and spreads over a large area,

Yes, if the pot is very small, transfer to a larger pot but without disturbing the root-ball; then put new, good compost around it to fill the gap, and water if it's not already wet. (Too much water can be as bad as too little).

Geraniums are one of our favourites, and we have various sorts - pinks, blues, white, plain and veined petals, large and small - but don't know the names.

Chop it back to an inch or less, repot it in something a bit bigger (I am a believer in scrunching up the rootball a bit when you do this) and make sure this time it doesn't dry out. It will very likely grow back within weeks. Cranesbills are tough.
