I have lots of hydrangeas in my garden, both macrophylla and annabelle. I ordered an annabelle from a website and it arrived a few days ago. The leaves at the top are ok but from halfway down to the roots some are yellow with tons of black spots all over them. I've contacted the website and said I wouldn't buy a plant looking like this in a garden centre and that I think it might be diseased. They replied and said I'm worrying about nothing and that the manly leaves are just dying off. However, my five other hydrangeas have shown no signs of this. Can anyone advise? Pic attached.

What?! That's an outrageous condition in which to send out a plant - I'd be cross too!

I don't know much about hydrangeas, but it does look suspiciously like some kind of fungal problem to my untutored eyes. I think I'd be keeping it in quarantine for a bit to be on the safe side. And demanding my money back!

Would you like to name and shame the website ?

Gladly! Grasslands.co.uk. Last year I ordered a buxus spiral from them which came with the roots bone dry and they lifted clean out of the pot. And then this hydrangea. There were appallingly rude on email and it took at least five back and forths before they would refund me. Dont order from them!
