What do you use to line hanging planters?

I have inherited a long thin hanging planter which I emptied today and discovered a disintegrated old plastic bag of some sort which was acting as a liner for the bottom and sides.
I have never planted in these things before so I was wondering if there is something more effective (and aesthetic) that I can use to line it with this time?

I'd be interested too as I've inherited some very large cage-style baskets

I've used old woollen blankets from op shops. I've also used shade cloth for things like stanhopea orchids where very free draining is essential.

I use a paper liner (they are a bit like thin egg box type cardboard) from the garden centre. You can cut holes in it and push plants through so that you are planting all round the planter, not just in the top.

They sell 30cm and 40cm coir liners in the pound shops, I don't know whether you could cut/fold one to fit?

Moss from garden works too but the coir liners are good .Recently
bought fair sized one from Aldi for a£1.You can cut them to fit and cut holes in .Stops soil falling out but water drains through .

My long thin one is lined with a thick black plastic bin liner cut into shape.

Looks better than it sounds (and it sounds grim, I agree) and it is soon covered in plants anyway.

It came with this house and I haven't been able to find any ready made ones that are long enough. I can't use moss as the gaps between the wire bits of the basket are too wide to hold it in place.

I've got a rectangular wirework planter that came with its own coir liner, but the liner is disintegrating and nowhere seems to sell replacements of the right size. I might try overlapping two of the coir liners from the pound shop, to see if they'll do the job and, if not, will probably use black plastic with lots of trailing plants to hide it.

I have seen sellers on Ebay offering replacement liners for the 'hay basket' style of planter but that was a while ago and I can't remember how much they were.
