What is this plant and can I split it?

I've no idea what it is but I do quite like it. This has shot up in my garden over the last couple of months (my first summer in the house) and there appear to be baby plant clumps underneath it.

Can I split the clump in half with a spade and move elsewhere?

It's a rogersia I think. You should, just be able to dig up a clump and move it? It's not something over ever grown so have a Google :)
