Summerhouse wood treatment

We've just moved an old summerhouse from the end of our garden to mid way down and it needs treating somehow. I'm undecided between a clear wood protector so that it maintains its nice grey colour, but do they make the wood shiny or change the colour? Alternatively we could paint it a light creamy grey. Slightly undecided, any advice welcome! Thanks

I painted an old shed a Cuprinol Garden Shades colour called Muted Clay which is a classy buff/grey. Done two years ago and still looks smart. I had to buy it from a Decorators' centre as my local B&Q didn't stock that particular shade.
