Is this a plant or a weed?

I am a complete novice but have recently moved into a house with a lovely garden and I'm trying my best to make the most of it.
There is a lot of this plant about, I've attached it to the post if that's right?

Shall I leave it be or fork it up?

Thank you all!

Can't remember the name but definately weed. I have some I should be pulling up instead of sitting here on mumsnet!

It could be Rosebay Willow Herb, usually thought of as a weed.

OllyBJolly · 04/05/2015 12:15

quite shallow roots so one of the easier ones to pull out.

Just started pulling it out, very easy so shouldn't be too long before garden looks better.

Thank you all

Yy looks like willowherb.

A weed is a plant that's growing where you don't want it too. Lilly of the Vally is often treated as a weed where I am (but not in my garden) because it's so prolific. But, yes, willowherb is rarely welcome anywhere.

To not too

I love Lily of the Valley, like snowdrop, such a signal of the season, how sad to dig it up.

Yeah, it's a real delight! Such a lovely perfume too, I've a sea if it at the moment and would be happy with more still. Some people, hey Confused
