Chickens

I would desperately love to keep chickens in the garden, but I don't have anyone I could ask to shut them away/let them out if I needed to go away overnight.
Do any of the chicken keepers have any advice they could give? Are there ways around it, or should I just give up my dream?

We've left them for 2 nights without any problems. It also means I only need to deal with the chickens once a day :)

if I am going away for 24 to 48 hours I shut them in with water and food.
