Buying a summerhouse - any suggestions?

We're looking to buy a summerhouse for the garden and wondered if anyone had experience of buying one? It seems there's two distinct types - the cheap not that darned cheap and cheerful which are the same type of timber as garden sheds, or more substantial beautiful creations, so our choices seem to range from a few hundred to many thousands. We're looking to spend less than £2k ideally.

What did you buy and why, and would you recommend it?

Our Wendy house was from these guys:

It seems really good quality and is good value compared to all the others we looked at.

Thanks so much Rogan is it wrong that I'm now yearning for a curry?

I'll take a look right now.

We're just going through this process, but are thinking in terms of a combined potting shed/greenhouse. Are you in the SE by any chance? There's a place in Farnham, Surrey called Bourne Buildings which has every sort of garden building imaginable on display, we're planning to order from them shortly.

We bought one last year from a local shed maker. We looked at a lot of different suppliers but by far the most economical way of doing it was the local shed people.

We had it made in 7/8 inch shiplap with double doors, four windows and a 3 foot veranda, 8 foot by 10 foot (plus veranda) for about £1400, erected. We then insulated it and lined it with plywood which was probably £200 for the materials, plus £100 for the paint/treatment stuff.

It is fine, obviously not like the posh Crane ones but fine, we sanded anything that needed sanding and I used something called Royal exterior on it - pretty colours and sort of a wash effect if you don't put too many coats on it.

Have a look for local people who might make this sort of thing if you can.
