Making my pots prettier

I've planted a couple of big terracotta pots with lily bulbs, but while they are still doing very little they look very dull. Could I add some bedding plants or anything else to brighten them up until the lilies start to grow and flower?

There is 3 to 4 inches between the top of the compost and top of the pot at the moment, so I could put something on top with more compost, and avoid digging down and disturbing the bulbs

yes, you can do that, but you would probably want to choose bedding plants that are already close to their best, because by the time the lilies come up, they will need and want the space.

you could try violas, forget-me-nots, or some of the trailing bedding plants like bacopa, aubrietia.
