Artificial grass v turf

Hi. We're getting our garden done and are contemplating artificial grass. We have 2 young ds and we were thinking it might make the garden more usable all year round. Any thoughts?

Do it - life is too short in the summer to be cutting grass when you've got two little ones.

We've got grass and thinking of put in artificial grass as it takes an hour in the summer every 2 weeks and I can't be arsed.

Our neighbours have artificial grass, and their children are out on it nearly all the time. Apparently is gets quite hot in the full sun. I wouldn't miss the grass cutting, but they do have quite a bit of maintenance too - rinsing and sweeping

Thanks for responses. Yes think it'll be good for the dcs!

If you've got decent drainage, grass should be useable year round.

If you go for plastic, check the quality carefully (some are scratchy), and pay for proper laying as dips can get waterlogged and will be much slower draining than grass. Also expect to replace it periodically. And remember you can't stake things into it.
