I've had an idea that it might be an idea to start a sort of holistic planting area for as and when problems crop up, inspired by someone with an injured ewe not being sure if they will be able to find some comfrey. I don't plan to use it instead of medicines for us or the animals, but in conjunction with - I am a firm believer of using things that don't do harm but may also help :)
It would be for people, but also potentially cows/sheep/goats and chooks
Does anyone do this? Any recommendations for useful things to grow that are species specific as well as useful for humans and animals? Is there a specific way or plan to do this?
So far I have thought of aloe, arnica, burdock, cayenne, camomile, comfrey, dandelion, fenugreek, feverfew, garlic, ginger, lavender, licorice, marigold, marsh mallow, milk thistle, peppermint, rosemary, sage, thyme and valerian.
I have an idea I'd also like to leave a large area of ivy this is useful for tempting sheep.
I have no size restriction currently for this or my planned veg patch so all ideas/views/diagrams etc welcome :)
