MALUS TORINGOIDES??? Any tree experts out there?

Were moving into a new property and have been told this tree will be put in the garden but we could try to decline it if we want. I read on the net that its seeds leaves and fruit contain a poisonous substance.

Surely they wouldn't put a poisonous tree in yhe garden of a poisonous house??

Anyone know how poisonous it is? What the common name is for this tree? how big could it get?

It's a crab apple tree. And I've just discovered that all apple trees hydrogen cyanide in their seeds

I'd say it will be fine though. Although it appears to be height: 10 ft. to 30 ft. Width: 10 ft. to 20 ft. The one in my parent's garden isn't very big thgouh.

Oh,, the fruit isn't poisonous though and the cyanide stuff isn't in the seeds in great quantities but you shouldn't eat too many of them

That seems potentially quite big for what is gonna be quite a small garden.

I've just stuck a Malus Rudolph in my front garden, v. close to the house.

It's a suitable tree but you'll find the size is determined by the rootstock it's grafted to usually. (I haven't heard of this particular one though).

They take whatever species you're getting, and graft it onto a piece of root of something else. You can get rootstocks which will tend to keep a tree fairly small (like mine) or you can get rootstocks which will promote a much taller and wider habit IYSWIM.
