Hanging Basket Plant Suggestions

We have just put our house on the market and the outside looks so drab due to the time of year.
My window boxes are fine as they are fairly sheltered and the plants have miraculously survived the snow and frost however my hanging baskets are brown and grim.
I usually plant them with plants i grow from seed boosted with cheerful annuals but as there is still snow/frost/ice around I'm reluctant to replant anything "forced" and I'm not sure what might be available at the garden centre at this time of year.
Can anyone come up with any suggestions that may take us through the next few months? Or should I wait for the better weather in a few weeks time? I can't grow anything myself this year as we've already sold my greenhouse ready for the impending move.

I have one by the front door with a tiny golden conifer, trailing ivy, primrose and cyclamen It has a few miniature bulbs too.

I bought the plants individually from Morrison's, they were about £1 each.

It's cheating but if you want instant results for kerb appeal the pre-planted baskets probably cost little more

Thank you, I'm so befuddled with my lists of things to do, I'd completely forgotten about lovely evergreens like ivy and conifers, and primroses would be a perfect inexpensive solution. Very happy, thanks again.

You're welcome, I was in the same boat a few weeks ago and decided to pull a few things out and replace with the conifer and primrose

I particularly like the golden conifer as it draws your eye to the basket from the street

It sounds as though you are sorted, but as an alternative idea I used to put hostas into my hanging baskets which would remain looking good for most of the year, and kept them out of reach of slugs... I then used to plant some winter flowering pansies/violas for contrasting colour (and replaced these with seasonally appropriate annuals later on).
