DH is laying three week old turf

It's mouldy and brown and three weeks old.

When we bought the turf, it was lush and green. Unfortunately, the garden flooded and had to be completely dug up to sort the drainage. Now it's finally sorted, he doesn't want to waste the turf and is currently laying it.

Is there any magical way it's going to spring back into life with lots of watering? It looks horrific...

It might come back - buy some grass seed and sprinkle that on the top

Get the soil dug, raked, some peat or compost, and fertilizer mixed in; rake flat, but don't compact too hard.

Keep it watered when you have laid it, but not too wet. If possible, have some spare soil ready to fill gaps, and as previous post said, sprinkle grass seed as well.

Yes, it may well come back.,

Depends on how many of the roots have died off in the last few weeks.

Well he's done pretty much what Ferguson said but I can't express how terrible looks. Some strips are bare and some are covered in mould! I just really hope it works - we have a massive garden and can't afford another huge amount of turf!

Hi - a month on, how is your lawn looking now? Though this isn't the best time of year to judge; guess you'll have to wait till spring to really know if it's come through its trauma.
