Alternative to winter pansies?

I like to have a bit of colour in the pots and baskets through the winter, and every year I opt for winter pansies. They fit the bill - colourful, hardy and I like the sweet little "faces", but after umpteen years I feel like a change. Does anyone have any ideas for an alternative?

Cyclamen? Primulas?

I do love the look of cyclamen, Rhubarb - would they survive a snowfall, if we get one?

Yes, if you avoid the larger showier varieties.

I do winter pots as well, and use heathers as a good background evergreen that flowers as well. I tend to use a variety of bulbs mixed amongst them as well as the pansies and primulas

I use a great many Bellis - they seem to last for ages and it's something a bit different.

Very helpful, MNers - thanks! I've made a little shopping list and will be at the garden centre before the week is out.
