Hi IM new here basicaly because Im usualy on the anti natal threads but I wondered if you could answer a question for me please?
I read in a magazine on Friday that if you want to keep your house free of spiders place conkers in strategic positions around your house.
How does this work? Surely spiders must come across conkers out in the open! I have nothing at all against spiders but just wondered how this would work

no idea how or indeed if it works - but read the same thing myself...

and I can't abide the sight of a spider.

maybe they don't like the smell or something ? A bit like cats and citrus peel ?

HuwEdwards · 25/09/2006 17:52

you're right ndp - conkers emit some chemical smell that repel spiders - just googled. But, after a while they dry out and are no longer effective.

Yeah thats what I thought. They might give off an odour or something. Mmm its quite interesting. Even my Mum has never heard of it and shes a pretty keen gardener.
