Acer - new growth is black. Help!

Hello Gardeners

We have an Acer in our garden. Only put in in April, but all new stem growth is dark, and then looks dead.
I trimmed the dead bits back about a month ago, but just been to check it and it has done it again. Will put up a picture later, but does anyone have any thoughts?

Thank you

Does it have leaves? If so, what are they like? Acers hate windy conditions, and stems can die back.

Try searching a dedicated acer site - there are sites of nearly every plant!

When we first bought our acer, we had the same problem. DH said it could be getting scorched by the sun, and decided to move it to a more sheltered part of the garden. It has thrived ever since! I also didn't know they hated wind Ferguson, so thank you for the info!
