Anyone grown a rose hedge? Is it tricky? I really fancy the idea and have seen some lovely roses, but its quite expensive and I am worried it will look sparse.

There was a post a little while ago (several weeks ago) where someone mentioned they had a hedge made up of roses, hawthorn and various other traditional hedging plants - it sounded lovely. Maybe that would be a compromise - roses with better density of cover?
