Can I re-pot my Bay trees or should I wait until spring?

They are in 3.5 ltr pots and growing quickly. I'm worried they will suffer in these pots.

New to gardening OP., and becoming obsessive. Just googled for you and the RHS website says repot every two years in spring.

I've probably had a hundred hits on their website this week!

I would. I repot things whenever I decide that they are getting too potbound. A bigger pot will mean more of a water reserve and so they are less likely to suffer during the summer, imo.

I would want to cut back the leaves, to balance transpiration with root uptake. You are bound to interfere with the roots when you move them. If you are putting them into new pots, put the pots in the shade for the next month, if you can.

Bay will also grow in the ground, which is less trouble, though you have to prune regularly or it will be thirty foot tall.
