out of control broom!

Ok, a few years ago, bought house and replanted patch in front of front window. One of the plants was a broom as I love the spindly branches and yellow flowers in early spring.

But my broom has turned into a monster. Dh cut it in half last year (misheard me telling him specifically not to prune it Hmm know, I know, I should LTB Grin) and this has actually made it worse, it's now this dense huge bush (higher than me!) Crowding out everything else.

Anyway, can't decide what to do with it, is it worth trying to thin it and rescue it? Should I just wrench it out (gonna be a big job and leave a huge hole), should I chop it in half?

My instinct is to pull it out really, just wondering if anyone else has a view?

Sorry, when I say chop it in half I mean divide it rather than just cut the top off which is what dh did last summer...

Near me they grow wild.

Every so often, the forestry people come with a big machine and cut everything right down to the ground, which they did last year.

This year the brooms are beautiful, tidy bushes.

I would try lopping it down right down to the ground, before you go through the huge job of pulling it out.

Hmm, thanks liara. I keep eyeing it up but am dreading wading in...
