Does any of you clever people know the name of this plant? I'd love to know!

Your collective knowledge is sure to impress...(I don't know how best to look after this plant either, but I am happy to look it up if you can name it first!)

It looks like a hibiscus?

hellyd · 10/06/2014 12:09

i think its a lavatera or mallow.
google Mallow plant and see if the pictures match.

spongebobsparepants · 10/06/2014 12:10

I'm with hellyd - def a mallow

fresh · 10/06/2014 12:10

Looks like a mallow - Lavatera. Probably 'Barnsley'. Fabulous shrub although can be short-lived. You don't really have to do much with it at all, it's very well-behaved. HTH

sorry xpost!

MaudantWit · 10/06/2014 12:23

Another vote for lavatera.

nipersvest · 11/06/2014 10:24

lavatera. my neighbour has one.

ShoeWhore · 19/06/2014 14:23

Yes it's lavatera. And as already mentioned gorgeous plant but can be short lived.

In Spring each year you can give it a really hard prune, cut it right back. It will grow back every summer.

HenI5 · 23/06/2014 16:15

Another question. I knew the mallow but have forgotten what this is. The cutting is from a shrub in our garden.
Anyone please, even though it's slightly fuzzy?

That looks like spiraea Hen (there are lots of different sorts/colours but some look like that). The other one I agree is mallow.

Summerinsomnia · 23/06/2014 16:24

Definitely lavatera and another vote for the 'Barnsley' variety. We have one. Can look a bit raggy but the flowers are pretty.

Thank you Inigo yes, someone else just said the same and it clicked back into place. It's Anthony Waterer I think.
