old water butt

There's a drainpipe-filled water butt in my garden. I'm renting and from the state of the garden I doubt it has been emptied in the last few years, but it is in full sun for most of the day so is probably a bit of a cauldron. Should I use it, or will it be too stinky / dangerously germy? Hmm

Have you tried pouring some out into a watering can to see what it looks like?

Liara Not yet, I'm a bit chicken when it comes to slimy water. There's a bit in a Donna Tartt's Little Friend novel when a girl falls into swampy water that keeps coming to mind

I'm not suggesting you get into it! Grin
