I have a new border as I have had my shed taken down to be replaced with a smaller one in the top corner of the garden. The new border is roughly east facing. I had a look at the Beechgrove sheet that was mentioned on another thread, and it mentioned ornamental vine for an east facing wall. What do you think the chances of getting a vine with more edible grapes to grow there would be?

I like colour and not a lot of bare earth.

Before the undergrowth near the shed was taken out today it is where my cat (who died in April) liked to hide. I have been waiting till the work was done to scatter his ashes there. I want to plant something in his honour there, thinking maybe catnip or something with silvery foliage as he was a beautiful grey and white longhairs cat.

Any advice or recommendations very gratefully received.

Sorry, should say that we are in Scotland from point of view of what might grow. Not as far north as Beechgrove!

I have just planted a new border last week Smile I love it and things are starting to flower. I bought my plants all from Beth Chatto gardens - possibly not the cheapest option due to delivery but they had everything I wanted. I have planted alliums, agapanthus, agastache sedum herbstfreude, delphinium, campanula, salvia nemorosa and a few others for a cottage garden effect (fingers crossed). I have also bought a couple of climbers (jasmine and honeysuckle) and have planted some annuals to fill in the gaps.

Thank you both - blog is definitely of interest. And I am keen to get something to climb on the wall.
