My Alstroemeria is starting to bloom again, but something new has appeared around it.

I have only got into gardening last year, so not sure if this is a weed or if I can expect something beautiful. It's pretty tall.

Hope someone can helps, am happy to pull it out if it's a weed, but don't want to waste it if it's something good. It has only appeared in this part of the garden, basically where the different varieties of Alstroemeria are.

I've found the friendly gardener Facebook group is great for IDing plants/weeds

ThatBloodyWoman · 27/05/2014 16:33

Its pretty hard to see.

You'd need much more of a close-up shot I think, for us to work it out.

But... if it is 'around' a plant you do like, then I think you should classify it as a weed and get rid of it. You could leave a clump somewhere it isn't encroaching on the plants you know you want, and see how it turns out.

Personally I quite like some of the 'self-seeded native wildflowers' that have turned up in odd corners of my garden, and leave them to get on with it, even if they would count as weeds to other people!

Hard to see but could it be Willow herb? That gets everywhere.

ThatBloodyWoman · 27/05/2014 17:55

I'm glad you said that Wynk as it was my best guess too!

It is quite pretty if it is,Mama, but too rampant to be allowed to take hold in an average garden.

Hokd off on getting rid though for more id's....

It sprang to mind as I had been earlier looking at it growing out of my gutter !

Blackpuddingbertha · 27/05/2014 21:14

I'd agree, rose bay willow herb. I pull it out continuously in my bed. Grows up through everything. Easy to pull up though.

MamaPizza · 28/05/2014 12:21

Thanks, it looks like willow herb comparing it to google. Will remove it from the area as it is my orange / yellow / white area and it spoils my colour scheme, but considering having it in my wild, purple and pink area in another part of the garden.

Thanks again Thanks
