I am a bit new to gardening!

What should I plant strawberries in and why?
Thanks.

I don't think the traditional pots with the little holes for them to poke out really work. The hanging baskets planted with them look good, but it's so difficult to keep baskets watered.

This year I'm trying them in a raised bed and plan to get some actual straw (have seen it for sale in the pet shop, as bedding) to support the berries. This is because the only strawberries I've seen happy/rampant have been in the ground.

Terracotta strawberry pots are indeed useless, mine is full of sedums as nothing else survives.

I have some in large planters (some clay, some plastic, some stone and some wood), some in raised beds and some in the ground.

In the ground most likely to be invaded by weeds, so harder work. OTOH, all the ones we now have everywhere else are runners from the ones we had in the ground last year, so obviously they did fine!

Both the raised beds and the large planters are working fine. Pots need watering every day, raised beds give you a bit more slack.
