Eucalyptus and possible subsidence

There is a tall eucalyptus in the garden, approx 11 metres away from the house. I've no idea that tree roots can cause foundation problems until now. Have been in this property for four years and now it seems the tree is getting way too high. I'm going to call in a tree surgeon next week to see what can be done. But meanwhile, I've noticed a few inches long hairline crack above the kitchen. Not sure when did it first appeared, but could it be subsidence due to the tree?

I'm not sure about how far they go, but I believe Eucalyptus trees have really shallow roots, so need to be kept well trimmed in this country to prevent them being blown over.

The crack might be due to the extreme changes in weather we've been having over the last few years eg extreme rain or v hot summer - I don't know where you live so can't say.

But could be the tree. But 11 metres is quite a way away, we had to have Lleylandii cut down and had roots cut out but they were about 4/5 metres from the wall.

I would think unlikely to be the tree,they grow at a tremendous rate & I would have it out now.
