Can I keep it in a big pot or do I have to plant it in the garden?

Aldi are doing them on Thursday for £3.99.

It will do much better in the ground. Bramleys are sturdy trees - think of the size of the apples! You can probably get less vigorous varieties for growing in pots but you'd have to be vigilant with the watering and feeding. Buy one anyway if you've got room in the garden - homegrown Bramleys are so much better than the acidic green unripe ones from a supermarket.

Envy at Bramleys. They do not exist in Australia.

Only the other day I heard a mum warn off her child from wanting to buy Granny Smiths because : "They're cooking apples, love."

[shock}
