Dp suggested a tree for the back garden...

Can anyone suggest something low maintenance, not too pricey, that'll be happy in a fairly shady garden?

That sounds like a tiny space for a tree. Would a tall shrub like Philadelphus (orange blossom) be better?

If you have a bit more room, (6' x 6') Amalachier lamarkii is lovely and gives good three season appeal.

I have no idea about trees, or shrubs Cutted...I can just about manage some toms and sunflowers in the summer with the girls Grin

I'll google your suggestion, it sounds pretty.

(there's no way we can really loose more space for planting, garden is postage stamp small!)
