Hedge suggestions for woody area

My tree surgeon got a bit too scissor happy and has totally removed my holly hedge which is good (because I hate holly) but bad because I want to hide the ugly brown fence that is now visible.

I am looking for some kind of hedge that will look good and grow well in a woodland area but one that isn't holly, leylandii or laurel.

holly if it is in woodland really, put in native holly and it will thrive.

Presumably you want something evergreen if it's to hide a fence? Yew or box would do it. If it doesn't have to be native, then Viburnum tinus makes a good hedge.
