Tiny flies in my herbs..

Anyone know what they are and if I can get rid of them? They always seem to come sooner rather than later to herbs I keep indoors. Outdoors the herbs are generally fine. Is it the humidity in the kitchen? thanks!

I've got the opposite problem. Tiny herbs in my flies. I shouldn't have zipped my jeans up so close to the marjoram, I think.

They are scarid flies and quite difficult to get rid of, they prefer damp compost so allow your compost to dry out between waterings. They lay tiny eggs in the compost so the only reliable way I know of getting rid of them is to repot taking as much of the compost off the roots as possible. Alternatively you could put the pots outside for a few weeks the flies that hatch will hopfully go elsware to lay their eggs

Thanks, I´ll put them outside then. Is it still ok to eat the chives, coriander etc.?
