for a sunny/partial shade yard - what plants can i put in my yard

as im looking for a tropical look or would that be a silly idea for a small to medium back yard?

and also like to have flowers in there too

crocus will have lots of ideas for plants that thrive in shady/sunny/sheltered spots etc
we've ordered from them a fair bit and it's all been good
