Your top tips on how not to kill plugs & seedlings please!

My second attempt at cosmos have sprouted and my T&M plugs have finally arrived (foxglove, campanula, lavender , verbena, delphinium, poppy). They all look nice & healthy and full of promise but its at this point I normally manage to kill them. Please can I have your to tips

water well and fed them with a decent plant food.
Are you going to plant them straight out or grow them on?

If they are small and you are going to plant them cut some coke bottles in half to a make little Cloche to go over them and dont forget to slug pellet around them.

I find getting lots of containers/trays to sit the pots in a d watering from below helps.

Sprinkle a thin layer of vermiculite on top of the compost - it doesn't go rock-hard in the way compost sometimes does.
