when to first cut a new lawn?

I sowed mine in the easter hols and it's coming up nicely despite stiff competition from weeds. Some parts receive more sun so the grass is longer, other areas are more wispy but overall the coverage is pretty good. Any ideas on when I can first give it a trim?

Six weeks from germination I believe. Just give it a very light cut - set your mower blades to the highest setting so they just trim off the very top. Then mow lightly once a week. It will soon thicken up.

I've done it and it looks very pleasing!
