a couple of questions, is the type on a wheel better than the type which is more like a fork? Also, will a cheap one do the job ok?

I finally bought a roller type one last year because doing it with a fork was killing my back. They all do the same thing the roller just does it quicker. I just bought a bog standard one from b&q and it works fine.

Thank you, they have a roller type on amazon for a tenner but I figured it's a waste of a tenner if it's no good! I was worried that the roller type would sort of tear up the soil.x
