new honeysuckle

HI all

I just came back from moment, with a 'graham thomas'.

It only has one strong and one very think extra stem. Should I cut to the ground, as one does a clematis on planting?

I cant find any advice on this online. I suppose a five pound plant might have been less of a bargain than a multi-stemmed one from a garden centre, in the short run!

Thank you.

Honeysuckle on the previous year's growth, so if you chop it down to the ground you will have flowers next year at best. I would just tie it in to its support and wait.

Thanks Maud. Maybe I will risk planting it a couple of inches deeper to encourage new shoots.
